Ode to the Bathroom People by Mr. Brian Auger

What a strange way for to be time spent

For these people who are only present

In the place where others drop off their gifts?

Repeatedly indulging in despicable whiffs!

Yet, they spend their time with gas

Instead of going to class

And, it isn’t one, but seems to be a mass

Hanging out with the smells of…

Is this anyway to succeed---

To dwell where the bowels are freed?

For ninety minutes or more

with lunches and blankets in store!

These bathroom-people I’ll never understand,

Those who live life on a public can.

But I feel sad for them all

Because I know their grades fall

Futures flushed away

Nearly every day.

I hope they’ll step off of those tile floors

And go through the classroom, not bathroom stall doors.
